Cassidy’s Little Ladybug Birthday Party

Real mama Kathy put on a simple and adorable ladybug-themed party for her one-year-old daughter Cassidy. Not only did the party turn out wonderful, but Kathy has some great advice for mamas throwing parties. Little Ladybug Birthday Party

What inspired the theme of your child’s party?

Before Cassidy was even born, I had purchased a Halloween costume (a ladybug) for her to wear. Ever since then, I have had a weird obsession with ladybugs, so I felt it was only appropriate to have it as the theme for her first birthday!

What was one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?

I’m most proud of the 80 cupcakes my best friend and I made together. Since we had a large guest list, I couldn’t stomach spending a ton of money on cake when it was something we could easily do for a lot less! For about $25, and a few hours the day before the party, I saved about $100 and our little ladybug themed creations were delicious!

Did you work with any vendors? If so, who? And what did you like about them?

The only vendor we worked with was for our location. Since Cassidy was born in the middle of winter, an outdoor party was out of the question. I certainly didn’t want to try and jam 60+ people into our house. The Wilmot Recreation Complex is about a three minute drive from where we live and provided everything that we needed. The facility is super clean and easily accessible from the highway, which made it simple for our guests to find. The room rental, including tables, chairs, use of a private kitchen, restrooms, etc. came to $98 after tax. By far, the best money we spent on the party!

What was your favorite moment/part of the party?

Hands down, it was when everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Cassidy. It’s hard to believe just how fast one year can go by, and I definitely had a hard time with my baby becoming a toddler. I couldn’t help but get a little choked up as all of our guests gathered around her and watched her blow out that single candle. We were so happy to have all of the people around who love Cassidy so much!

What was your birthday girl’s favorite part?

Honestly, probably when it was over and she was finally able to sleep. I know she had a wonderful time with everyone, but since the party was during nap time, it was a lot for her to handle and it wore her out. We attempted to open a few gifts, but it just wasn’t working out. Once she had a snooze and we got everything home, she enjoyed opening her presents. She was very spoiled!

Can you give any advice to mamas that are planning a party for their little one?

Try not to stress out too much!

Personally, I felt a lot of pressure as this was her FIRST birthday. Seeing how much time and effort other mamas put into their birthday parties was a bit intimidating. Don’t get me wrong, I did put time and effort into Cassidy’s party, but I also kept it as simple as I could. I didn’t spend an insane amount of money, or stress out about little details like personalized water bottle labels.

I loved how everything turned out! Will she remember it? Of course not. But I felt as though it was a celebration not only for her, but for us as her parents. We made it through her first year! And that’s a pretty big deal in my book!

Party Budget: $$- 151-300
