Creamy Avocado Pesto Sauce

This creamy avocado pesto sauce is perfect over chicken, fish or alone on pasta. It’s quick and easy to make in a blender. I love to serve it cold over pasta and grilled chicken for dinner on a warm night. Delicious and simple!

It’s got a tiny bit of kick, but it’s not spicy. My 18-month-old and my three-year-old both loved it. According to my daughter, who is totally unaccustomed to any level of hot food, “It’s spicy mommy, but it’s good spicy.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 and a ½ avocados
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 5 tsp prepared pesto
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • pinch of chili powder
  • pinch of cumin
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of pepper

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse until combined. Serve and enjoy!

For thicker sauce, use less buttermilk. For thinner sauce, use more. This sauce is also awesome as a dip for flatbread, tortilla chips or veggies.
