DIY “I Am Loved” Photo Book

My husband, baby and I moved out from the United States to Germany when our little girl was only three months old.

We planned on the move and while I was pregnant my parents and many of our friends living in the U.S. were sad to think that C might not remember them as she grows older.

While searching on Pinterest, I found a photo of a book someone had created for his or her child. The book was a simple photo book from Shutterfly filled with family pictures and called My Family Tree. That sparked an idea for me.

I wanted to create a book for my little girl to read, filled with photos of family and friends who love her.

After searching for the best deal on different websites that offer photo books, I settled on creating a 4″ x 6″ flip book on Vistaprint.

I was eight months pregnant when I created this book. Because we hadn’t yet given the baby a name, I titled the book I Am Loved. I chose a cute template of pink and white square dots and dark pink photo frames.

Inside, each page had a photo of a family member or friend, along with their name, followed by the words “loves me.”

I started with “Mommy loves me” and “Daddy loves me,” then I moved on to grandparents, great-grandparents, our dog and then friends.

Yes, I even included our dog!

It was really special to show our friends once we received the book— they all loved it.

The first few months after we moved to Germany, I read the book to her every single day. Babies love to look at pictures of faces and C was mesmerized with every page.

Now that she’s one year old, she’s old enough to choose for herself which books she wants to read, so my choices don’t always go over so well, but she still looks at the book fairly often.

I made sure to order to the book with thick pages so that baby’s little hands wouldn’t accidentally rip the pages.

I was able to make this book and have it shipped for only $5, using a coupon code!

It’s a great bedtime book to read cuddled up with my baby at night, and it’ll definitely be a lovely keepsake as she gets older.
