Go-To Gifts: Gift Card Tags for Teachers (Free Downloads!)

As the end of the school year approaches, I see more and more gift ideas for teachers and day care providers popping up in my Pinterest feed. This is the first year we have had a child in school, so my husband and I have been talking about different ideas for a potential thank you gift for our son’s teachers.

Is a thank you gift required? Of course not. But it’s a nice gesture, especially if your child’s teacher has been exceptionally rad this year. But what to get?

A cute, handmade craft is a really sweet gift and there are lots of cute ideas on Pinterest. But consider that a teacher may receive a dozen or more… every year. Fragrant bath soaps and lotions are nice too, but consider that a teacher may have a sensitivity or allergy to some of the ingredients in them. Same goes for baked goods. And candy and baked goods are nice too, but keep in mind they may not get eaten if the teacher is trying to stick to a more healthy diet or if they receive a dozen or more different baked goods from their students.

We weighed the options and decided to go the gift card route for TJ’s teachers along with a card from him. Gift cards seem to be a perfect way to say thank you and ensure you’re giving a gift that will be used.

For Mama Say What?! readers, we created a handful of downloadable and printable thank you cards that include an empty space to stick a gift card. Some of these have wording that will work perfectly with a specific kind of gift card, so check out the descriptions to see what we came up with.

Download whichever file(s) you’d like by clicking on the title in bold print. Open them with Adobe Reader and you can type in your child’s name or your family name at the bottom. They are set up to print two cards per 8.5×11 page. Print as many as you’d like! Many of these will also work as a cute thank you card for day care providers.

Thanks a Latte! Great for a gift card to a local coffee shop; Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, The Coffee Bean, Peets, etc!

Smart Cookie! How about a gift card to a local bakery?

Creative Juices! This can work for a gift card to a local juice or smoothie place like Jamba Juice. Or, does this teacher do a lot of arts and crafts? Or love to sew? Then perhaps consider a gift card to a local fabric or craft store, or Michael’s, JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby or another store that sparks creative juices.

Here’s the Scoop! Fantastic for a gift card to an ice cream or frozen yogurt shop like Pinkberry, Yogurtland, Menchies and Baskin Robbins.

Helping me grow and bloom! Does this teacher do a lot of fun science experiments or love gardening? Maybe a gift card to a local nursery, Home Depot, Lowe’s or Orchard Supply Hardware. Maybe check to see if there are any fun hobby shops in your area too.

Feeding Young Minds! Does this teacher have a serious sweet tooth or are they a foodie? Consider a gift card to a local specialty bakery or favorite restaurant.

Big Heart! This can work for pretty much any kind of gift card.

Enjoy and have a great summer!!!
