Alexis’ Adorable Owl Birthday Party
Christy threw an adorable owl themed party when her little girl Alexis turned one. I love the colors and the cupcakes look delicious! I know you’ll enjoy “oohing and ahhing” over this party as much as I did!
What inspired the theme of your child’s party?
I had originally planned on the theme being monkeys. Monkeys were the theme of my baby shower when I was pregnant with Alexis and it is the decor of her room.
While researching party ideas, I came across the owl theme and I fell in love! I especially fell in love with favor bags that I saw that said “thanks for coming, I had a hoot.”
What is one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?
I am particularly proud of how all the decorations and details turned out — I am still fairly new at throwing parties so it is still really exciting when things come together.
Did you work with any vendors (photographer, cake maker, location etc.)? If so who and what did you like about them?
I didn’t work with too many vendors. Our venue was the local fire department that Grandpop rented so he handled everything with the venue.
I ordered invites from Sayitinstyle on Etsy —the price was good and the product was great but it took forever for them to come in the mail! I thought ordering them a month before I needed them was enough time and I got them in the mail with enough time for people to RSVP, but it was a nail biter!
After that I went to Alex Tebow Designs and had Alex design my favor bag tags and cupcake flags. Alex was great to work with; she matched everything perfectly with the invites and had a quick turnaround time.
I didn’t have a photographer at the party but I did have my friend Ashley with A.G. Photography take cake smash pictures about a week before the party and they turned out amazing —they were everything I expected and more!
What was your favorite moment/part of the party?
The cake smash! All eyes in the room were on Alexis, my pride and joy!
What was your birthday girl’s favorite part?
I think she had the best time socializing with her baby friends. She was smiling the whole time and soaking up all the attention.
Can you give any advice to mamas that are planning a party for their little one?
Give yourself plenty of time to plan the party, that way you can take your time and you are not rushed. Also, don’t stress out if everything doesn’t go your way. My oven broke the night before the party so ALL of my cooking had to take place the morning of the party at Alexis’ godmother’s house. Which, of course, affected Alexis’ nap, but everything turned out okay anyway.
