Britax B-Agile Stroller

When my daughter was just about eight months old, my husband I and started shopping around for a new, “big-girl” stroller.

We had previously been using a stroller designed for infants so it was time to upgrade.

After a few weeks of research, in-store testing and price comparison, we were excited to purchase the BRITAX RÖMER B-Agile. We chose to buy it in red, but it also comes in black, tan or kiwi green.

I love just about everything about this stroller. My daughter is cozy and safe when riding in it and it’s comfortable for mama or dad to push.

Pros:

  • It has a deep, wide seat that is padded for baby’s comfort. Many other strollers we tried in baby stores had very narrow, uncomfortable-looking seats. While I can’t sit in it myself, C seems to like it.
  • The canopy is so wide! There is very rarely need for extra sun protection in this stroller. It is also adjustable and has a section of mesh so it is breathable. The whole canopy is detachable by zipper and includes a mesh peek-a-boo window, which can be opened or closed using Velcro, so mama can peek down and see baby while pushing the stroller.

  • The bottom bar of the frame is curved— a huge plus for average-to-tall parents. With our last stroller, I would always kick the straight bottom bar, and it was very frustrating. That never happens with the B-Agile.
  • The handlebar is fairly high, although not adjustable, for average-to-tall parents.
  • It’s lightweight, weighing only 16.5 pounds— my baby weighs more than the stroller does! So it’s pretty easy to carry C in one arm and the stroller on the other, even going up and down stairs.
  • It has an easy one-hand fold that includes a safety lock button. All you do is push in the grey button (it stays pushed down so you don’t have to hold it) and pull up on a handle on the seat. While it is manageable to do with one hand while holding your baby in the other, I prefer to use two hands.
  • It folds up very flat and it is pretty compact. I imagine it would fit into most small trunks.
  • The seat has a very deep recline and will lay completely flat. This is perfect for (the rare times) when C falls asleep in her stroller. Laying the seat flat is easy to do one-handed by pulling a strap down on the back of the stroller.

  • The B-Agile is easy to maneuver. With my 20-pound daughter sitting in the stroller and the diaper bag hanging over the handlebars, I can easily push the stroller one-handed while holding my dog’s leash in the other hand. It’s also a really smooth ride over cobblestone or dirt roads, thanks to the built-in suspension. It goes over curbs easily as well with just an added push.
  • It has a 5-point harness with no re-threading involved. While it is easy enough for mama or dad to snap or unsnap, C can’t get it open by herself. The shoulder straps are height-adjustable for safety, and you can choose to easily detach the shoulder straps altogether and use only the belly strap if you have a wiggly toddler.

  • The belly bar is removable, although C likes to use it as a footrest.
  • It comes with a car seat adapter and can be used as a travel system for infants. Although we haven’t used a car seat in this stroller yet, we plan to use it with the arrival of our new little one next year.
  • The fabric is easily cleaned with a wet washcloth and a little bit of soap.

Cons:
While I do love most things about this stroller, unfortunately it isn’t perfect.

  • When the stroller is folded completely and propped up against a wall, the handlebar (where your hands go to push it when baby is in it) lies on the ground and touches the back wheels. Because of this, the handlebar often gets dirty, which is very frustrating. However, this is an easy fix with a baby wipe or hand towel.
  • The stroller comes with a removable zippered storage bag that attaches underneath the handlebars. The bag covers the mesh backing to the baby’s seat. The bag is positively useless because it becomes bulky and in the way when you put anything in it— even just a diaper and some wipes. However, if you remove the bag, the mesh back of the stroller becomes exposed and if you lay the seat down for baby to sleep, sunlight can be in baby’s face. This is the most frustrating thing about this stroller.
  • While I love the adjustable and recline-able seat, I do wish it could be adjusted to be perfectly upright. C likes to sit straight up, and even at its most upright setting it’s still reclined a bit.
  • The bottom storage bag could be a little bigger; however, it does hold a good amount of weight.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this stroller to another mama. Despite its cons, it’s the best one I’ve found, it sells for a very affordable price and I’m very happy with it.

  1. I have the double version of this stroller and it seems like they made some improvements with the double. But they also make you buy the accessories I think should come with it.

  3. Great review! We tried out this stroller at a local Babies R Us but it’s so hard to tell what little things will drive us nuts when we get it. Much appreciate your thoughts!

  4. Thanks! I have the b-ready and glad I found this review. It helped to see the pros and cons before purchasing, but I think I still would love this stroller. Seems the cons are pretty minimal things and although my babe likes to sit up, a slight recline is okay.

  5. Awesome stroller, cant wait to win one
