Soothe and Glow Seahorse

Sleep is precious in any house with a newborn (or infant… or toddler…), as any parent will tell you. There are many sleep soothers on the market to help your child fall asleep and stay asleep.

For any mom who’s learned to function on two hours of sleep a night, the Fisher Price Soothe and Glow Seahorse might be the answer to your prayers.

We got the Soothe and Glow Seahorse when Little Man was about four months old. He’s always been a rock-star sleeper, but hadn’t really made any attachment to a security object. With fears that a sleep regression would hit hard, my husband and I wanted to be sure that he had something to soothe him to sleep or at least provide a safe and comforting snuggle as he was falling asleep. Our son has slept with it in his crib every night and for every nap since we brought it home (and yes, it even travels to daycare every day too).

The Good

  • There are two volume settings.
  • The material is machine washable.
  • When you push or snuggle the belly, soothing music and ocean sounds are played.
  • The batteries last a long time (we’ve changed them only four times in more than 14 months).
  • It comes in pink and blue.

The Bad

  • The music and sounds only last for five minutes.

The Overall

This soother is definitely worth the inexpensive price tag. Our son has been enjoying it for more than 14 months and it’s a permanent fixture in his crib. Even though he was more attached to it as an infant, he still enjoys sleeping with it as a toddler. This would make a great gift for any mom and baby at a shower.
