Riley’s Frozen-Inspired Birthday Party

Riley’s mama, Brooke is no stranger to DIY. She did an awesome job putting together her daughters Tangled birthday party when she turned three. When her little girl turned five, they decided on a Frozen party! Brooke took care of all of the decor herself and it turned out amazing — from Olaf popcorn cups to a life-sized poster of Anna and Elsa and complete with a visit from Elsa herself! Everyone had a great time at this Frozen-inspired party in July.

What inspired the theme of your child’s party?

My daughter Riley is obsessed with the movie Frozen (along with every other little girl in the world right now)! She desperately wanted a Frozen party and had been talking about it for MONTHS.

What was one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?

I am really excited about the decor for the party. My daughter is super girly and loves anything colorful (bonus if it is pink or purple). I wanted the party decor to match her personality so I made it as cheery and bright as possible. I made the birthday banner, snowflake garland and centerpieces in various shades of purple, aqua, silver and pink and am so happy with how they turned out. They will be available for sale in my Etsy shop this September.

Did you work with any vendors? If so who and what did you like about them?

We worked with a few vendors for the party. The biggest was Fairytale Dream Parties. We hired “Elsa” to come entertain the kids at the party. I was really nervous because we have never done anything like it before, but it was fantastic!

I found Riley’s dress at Happy Cat Boutique on Etsy. It is adorable! I am really impressed with how well it is made and my daughter loves it. I highly recommend this shop!

The cake was from Cupcake Town. My daughter has Celiac disease in addition to some food allergies (and there were some allergies to consider for a few of our guests). They were able to make a gluten and soy free/vegan cake for us that was amazing! You could not taste the difference. They were great to work with. We will definitely be ordering from them from now on.

What was your birthday girls favorite part?

Riley’s favorite part was definitely the visit from Elsa! We agreed to keep it a surprise and kudos to my hubby for making me stick to it because the look on Ry’s face when Elsa walked down our driveway was priceless. Worth every penny!

Can you give any advice to mamas that are planning a party for their little one?

I think the best advice I can give is to start planning a least three months in advance, stay organized, and have fun with it. I love Pinterest for party planning and created a secret board to help organize all of my ideas. My daughter and I had such a blast going through all of the fun pins and thinking of things we could do. I made sure all of our fun projects were done well in advance of the party so that the event, along with the week leading up to it, was completely stress free.
