Ring Sling Review and Giveaway!

I absolutely adore my ring sling. It’s my favorite baby carrier; it’s easy to use and adjust, and so versatile!

I bought my ring sling from Amanda Sews on Etsy when my daughter was about three months old—I ordered it as a Christmas present to myself (and gave it to my husband to wrap when it came, hehe).

The benefits of any type of baby-wearing are enormous! You don’t have to lug around a stroller; carriers are so easy to pop into your diaper bag and they take up very little room. You don’t have to navigate a stroller through a crowded area like a mall or a festival, and you don’t have to worry about people bumping into your stroller when your child is sleeping in it. Your baby stays close to your body as well. If your baby won’t sleep anywhere other than on you, you can pop your baby in the carrier, let him fall asleep and then still have two hands to get things done instead of being confined to one position on the couch.

I wasn’t intending to fall in love with it— I just wanted to try out a ring sling. But oh, I did.

Ring slings are my favorite type of carrier for a few reasons. First, they’re simple. It’s really just a long piece of fabric threaded through two rings for adjustability. You can literally achieve a perfect fit every single time you wear your baby. They are light and very portable. They are so easy to use and there are multiple ways you can wear your baby. They’re really very comfortable and hurt my back less than other carriers.

Because of its easy adjustability, you and your partner or another caregiver can all use the same sling without having to adjust it or buy a different size. My husband and my mama have also used my sling, and I’ve lent it to a few different friends as well.

I love how easy it is to breastfeed in the ring sling! When I’m already wearing my baby, it’s easy to lower her into a lying position to nurse and then back up when she is finished. The open tail can serve as a cover too.

I used my ring sling literally just about every day for probably about nine to ten months. When my daughter was itty bitty, I’d wear her around the house while getting things done, like vacuuming, cooking or doing laundry, to keep her happy.

When she got a little older, I wore her in the sling while shopping or walking in the park instead of using the stroller. When she became a toddler, the sling was fabulous for those times when she insisted on being held when we were out and about.

The only reason I stopped using it was because I was pregnant with baby number two. Since my newest little one has arrived, I’ve hardly taken him out of it. It’s so easy to get things done around the house and take care of my older little one when I’m comfortably wearing my little boy.

The ring sling I have is very durable. Amanda clearly uses high-quality products; I’ve gotten a lot of use out of my sling and I’ve washed it numerous times and there is almost no sign of wear and tear.

I can’t say enough good things about the ring sling sold in Amanda’s Etsy shop.

Her slings are single-layered and unpadded, making them simple, practical and easy to fold up and throw in a diaper bag. She custom fits your sling to fit your body measurements, which are easy to take with her provided instructions.

If you choose, she even adds a few extra inches on the tail so you can use it as a nursing cover.

Amanda offers various fabric options and ring options as well. You can choose from the available fabric she has and whether you’d like an aluminum or a nylon ring in whatever color will match your chosen fabric.

The fabric is pre-shrunk so it will not change size after you wash it. The rings she uses are tested specifically in slings, so you don’t have to worry about breakage from baby’s weight because the ring is not being used as intended.

I love that this ring sling is really wide around the shoulder area, so when it’s stretched over my shoulder correctly, it’s comfortable and doesn’t hurt my neck or back at all, even after a lot of use.

All of this came with a really quick turnaround time for being a custom-made product. Amanda made the sling within a week and I received it not even two weeks after I placed the initial order.

I paid only $20 plus shipping for the sling, a serious bargain for a custom-made sling compared to some baby carriers out there. Ring Sling Review and Giveaway!
