R’s Tie Affair First Birthday

I’ve known mama Nicole S. for years and her parties are well known throughout our family. She always throws a fun and crafty party. Nicole threw a cute-as-can-be “A Tie Affair” party for her son R’s first birthday. Check out how this mama of little R pulled off this bash!

Tell us about your party. After eleven months of taking his monthly baby pictures in an adorable blue tie I decided this was the perfect finale to his monthly picture collage.

What inspired the theme? To get inspiration I reached out to the internet to compile a list of ideas that I could work into the party on a budget and that I could make myself. This included juice bottle neck ties, tie napkins, tie-adorned goody bags, a pin the tie on R game and a tie birthday banner. All of which I was able to make from one pack of coordinating 12×12 scrapbook paper.

What decorations used in R’s party are you particularly proud of? One thing that I was especially proud of was the birthday banner made of ties. It was simple to make and set the theme for the party, providing a cute backdrop for all of the pictures.

Did you work with vendors? The last piece of the party, but always the center of the party was the cake; however I did not make this myself and left it up to the professionals. It turned out perfectly and was a simple but adorable addition to the party.

What was your favorite moment of the celebration? My favorite moment of the entire party was playing pin the tie on R, it was a blast for all of the kids and R had a great time playing as well!

Is there anything you would have changed? I wouldn’t change anything about this party, I found the projects that I set out to accomplish to be fun to do and easy to complete. This allowed me to stay on budget and add the perfect special touches to the party.

How much did you spend on his first birthday bash? While I know that staying within a budget can be very trying when planning a birthday party, I was able to pull off this party for less than $75 including the cake!!
