Snow Ice Cream

It’s another snow day here in upstate New York! Being home with the kiddos (on a Monday no less, after an already long weekend) can be a little scary, especially if you feel like you have “nothing to do” like I often do.

The kids are usually happy to play with their toys for hours and watch multiple episodes of Super Why, but I feel guilty when the TV is on for too long.

A mama friend told me about how she and her kiddos make “Snow Ice Cream” on snowy days for a special treat. The ingredients are minimal and we certainly had enough snow! It was quite a hit and a fun little treat for a snowy day. Thank you to Gimme Some Oven for the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk (we used rice milk)
  • ¼  cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • Salt was listed on the original recipe but we left that out
  • 8 cups of snow (more or less depending on if it’s fluffy or heavy)

Directions:

1. Combine the milk, sugar, and vanilla in a bowl and whisk together.

2. Scoop snow into a large bowl.

3. Pour the milk over the snow and mix. Top with sprinkles, chocolate chips, or anything else you’d like!

  1. This looks like a lot of fun. I love that the boys are eating the ice cream out of huge bowls!
