Strawberry Revolution Studio Tie-Back Review & Giveaway!

For those of you who know me, you probably see me wearing my ten-year-old pink John Deere baseball cap probably two to three times a week. Confession, I am a baseball cap junkie. I don’t know that baseball caps are trendy or cool anymore, but I still wear mine and give an imaginary high-five to any other lady I see wearing one.

Why do I wear a hat, you ask? Well, I work from home a couple of days a week so I give myself a break from makeup and hair dos. Also, being a busy mama (I think some can relate) you don’t always have time to get your hair washed. My cap serves several purposes:

  • Hides my bad hair day
  • Hides my unwashed hair
  • Camouflages the fact I’m not wearing makeup
  • Keeps the hair out of my face
  • Keeps the sun and sweat out of my eyes for outside work/workouts

I’ve thought about getting a sporty headband, but just hadn’t committed. So when Strawberry Revolution offered a lucky Mama Say What?! writer a chance to review one of their Studio Tie-Backs, I was excited! I’ve heard good things about these. So it could be my alternative to a cap.

The Studio Tie-back benefits not only my hair-hiding, sweat-catching needs, but has other uses. I know several people who use them for photo shoots and they send their rave reviews. The tie-back can be used for photography, crafting, yoga, running, as a trendy headband or for casual wear.

The Studio Tie-Back is a cotton fabric band with stretch ties that can be worn wide or thin. They come in a variety of colors and prints so you can easily find one to fit your personality. The tie-back can be washed and ironed if desired. The pleats are sewed in place, so I don’t see the need for ironing.

I prefer the thin vs. wide look because I have a smaller head and the wide look makes me feel like a very free spirit. However, the wide look covers a lot more of my unwashed hair so that is always an option!

I do really like the way I look with my hair down and my bangs out. I feel cute and trendy and think I can pull off a headband. I haven’t worn a headband since middle school, so it has definitely been a while.

Being a cap wearer, it took me a couple of times to figure out the best way for me to wear it. I just got bangs so I had to pin and stuff them for the best workout fit. For this reason, I’m considering the TRUEfit Band they offer. It looks so cute!

The ties are super stretchy, almost a silky and very soft fabric, and easy to use. Once I figured out the best way to tie it, I never had to tighten it once that day.

My only complaints is that it took me a while to figure out the best fit and it was a little itchy. Although, everything that you put on your head you have to adjust and it itches a bit, right?

Pros:

  • Great designs
  • Soft band and ties
  • Keeps hair out of my eyes
  • Hides my unwashed hair when needed
  • Trendy and cute headband for casual wear

Cons:

  • I still need makeup! (for sure)
  • Requires sunglasses to keep the sun out of your eyes

I wrote my friend a little note as a joke while I was reviewing the tie-back and I couldn’t help but share it. Corny, I know…

Dear Friend,

Happy Thanksgiving! I know you will love your tie-back because I have used it a ton this week. It is great for holding unwashed hair back while prepping the Thanksgiving meal. It covers even more unwashed hair unfolded, which is good when you haven’t washed it for two days. Do not worry about me, I just took a shower… Enjoy your new hair accessory and your Thanksgiving Day!

Your friend,

Sarah

Overall, this is a cute and useful tie-back and I am definitely putting the TRUEfit Band on my wish list!
