Thirty-One Organizing Utility Tote Review and Giveaway!

Now that little man is a bit older, I am trying to move away from carrying a diaper bag. I was given a Thirty-One tote to review, and have spent the last three weeks using the Organizing Utility Tote in the bright, colorful Island Damask print.

There are seven pockets on the outside of the tote and a spacious compartment in the middle. There are three shorter pockets in the back, two taller pockets in the front, and two of the side pockets are mesh with an elastic band at the top of the pocket.

The interior is plenty spacious for any of the things we would pack for a beach day or a camping trip. We were able to fit sand toys, diapers, wipes, and two beach towels in the main compartment. I’ve even used it as my gym bag.

I like the length on the handles of the bag as well. With two beach towels, the bag was pretty full, but there was enough length on the handles where it still sat comfortably on my shoulder.

I was thankful that the material is quite durable, too. The bag sat in the bottom of a wet, muddy kayak and all it took to have it looking fresh and new again was a quick wipe down from a moist paper towel.

There is plenty of space in the pockets, but I wish there was a better way to make the items in the pockets more secure. I had the bag slung over my shoulder and when I bent over to pick up little dude, some of the contents in the larger front pockets fell out. If even one of the large pockets had elastic like the smaller side pockets, it would be amazing!

I also liked the mesh pockets as my son could see the contents of the pocket. I put his snacks in there so he can visually see them and get them for himself.

Pros:

  • Durable and easy to clean
  • Reasonably priced
  • Great replacement for a diaper bag
  • Spacious
  • Visual side pockets make items accessible
  • Not a big, bulky bag. Doesn’t get cumbersome but still holds the essentials
  • Fun bright patterns available
  • Handles are long enough to be comfortable over the shoulder even when bag is full.

Cons:

  • There is no way to securely carry essential items without fear of them falling out (wallet, epi-pen). A simple zipper pocket inside would make this bag truly amazing

Overall, this is a spacious, durable tote that is a great replacement for a diaper bag.
