Baby K’tan Review and Giveaway!

I was given the chance to try out a Baby K’tan Baby Carrier and I jumped at the opportunity. I was blessed with a great sleeper, but my daughter was starting to get a flat spot on the back of her head from sleeping all night. What better way to keep her off her head than with a baby carrier!?

Of course I chose the color ‘Eggplant’ because purple is my favorite color and I have never seen another wrap offered in this color.

The K’tan comes in five different sizes, which I love. Being on the smaller side, the other wraps I have tried were just so long and bulky, so it was great to be able to choose the right fit for me. I went with an XS and it was perfect. The sizes are displayed right on their website along with tips on choosing the right size for you.

I noticed right away that the K’tan is a nice, cool, cotton fabric. Of course my baby sweats in it when she sleeps outside, but I think you will have that with any carrier. It was definitely much cooler than a previous wrap I had tried. It also came with a booklet explaining how the wrap can be used in many different positions, along with pictures that show you exactly how it works. The sash even converts to a handy dandy storage tote.

The day it came in the mail, I took it to a baseball game where my (then 2 ½ month-old) daughter slept in it almost the entire time. I could tell she was getting sleepy as soon as we got to the game, so I put her in the K’tan (Kangaroo Style). She was a little angry with me at first, but as soon as I got her in the right position she was happy and fell right to sleep. When she finally did wake up and wanted out, I just wore the carrier around my neck and it looked like one of those infinity scarves. No long, bulky piece of material to carry around – bonus!

Fast forward to today… now that my baby is getting bigger and has better neck control, I switched to the ‘Hug’ position. Just the other day, we took a boat ride down to the beach. I didn’t want to put her in her car seat on the boat and she’s not big enough for a life jacket just yet, so out came the Baby K’tan. I wore her the entire time and was even able to walk around the beach playing with my son and not worrying about dropping her.

I love using this around the house as well… watering flowers, making dinner, even working on my computer. I think it has definitely helped with my baby girl’s flat spot, as it keeps her off her head. I also attempted the ‘Adventure’ position while getting the mail yesterday, even though she is not quite old enough yet. I can already tell she is going to love that when her neck gets a little stronger because she gets to see everything going on!

I would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting to try his or her hand at babywearing. It is so easy to slip on and off. We are going to Arizona to visit my sister next month and I will definitely be bringing this for the airport and plane ride.
