Benjamin’s Star Wars Birthday Party

I can’t wait until my son is old enough to experience the awesomeness that is Star Wars. Maybe one day he will ask if he can have a Star Wars birthday party too. A mama can dream. Benjamin’s Star Wars Birthday Party

Check out the fantastic Star Wars birthday party that my friend Krista set up for her oldest son Benjamin when he turned seven. I love how she was able to make it look great without buying the Star Wars branded stuff that’s available at most party supply stores.

There’s nothing at all wrong with using them for a party, but it’s nice to see a mama get creative and think outside the pre-packaged box.

What inspired the theme of your child’s party?

My son fell in love with Star Wars the second my husband showed him the movies (just the original trilogy so far). He really wanted a Star Wars party based on “episodes IV, V and VI.” I didn’t want to buy a bunch of pre-packaged stuff, so I hunted around Pinterest until I figured out what I wanted to do.

What was one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?

I really love the food table! It was all easy, kid-friendly and the names I found on Pinterest were perfect!

Did you work with any vendors?

I didn’t work with any vendors, almost everything was DIY, but here is where I found some of the things I used:

Masks (a free printable)

Stormtrooper craft

Star Wars fonts (invitations, banner, food tags)

I used this font for the cupcake toppers.

Star Wars bingo (a free printable)

Jedi robes tutorial

Princess Leia headbands tutorial

What was your favorite moment/part of the party?

I really loved how all the kids were excited about the food names and that they got to play with all the Star Wars toys. My mother-in-law painted a pretty awesome Yoda, which was both a photo background and a game: Pin the Lightsaber on Yoda. The Jedi robes she made were pretty fantastic as well.

What was Benjamin’s favorite part?

He said “I liked Bingo since I got to lead it. I liked everything, it was a fun birthday party!”

Can you give any advice to mamas who are planning a party for their little one?

I always say the same: start early so you don’t have to do everything at the last minute. I make lists for each store I need to go to (Michaels, Trader Joe’s, Target, etc) so I don’t have to rush around and go to the same place multiple times. You can find so many great ideas online!

About how much was spent on the party?

Around $100.
