Chococinno

As a mama of two kids, I know what it’s like to need a caffeine boost some days. I also know what it’s like to need a little chocolate now and then. I am willing to bet most mamas reading this right now know the same feelings! So imagine my delight when I discovered the ‘chococinno!’

What is a chococinno, you ask? Hot chocolate with a shot of espresso! It’s delicious, not too sweet, gives a needed energy boost and it’s a little classier than a simple hot chocolate.

I first had one in a café near my house with some friends. Since then, I’ve been making it at home. It’s easy!

Ingredients:

  • Instant espresso
  • Milk
  • Hot Cocoa powder or chocolate syrup

Directions:

  • Put a heaping teaspoon of instant espresso in the bottom of your favorite coffee mug.
  • Then, put two teaspoons of cocoa powder or chocolate syrup in the same mug.

  • Pour enough milk to fill your mug into a saucepan or a microwave safe bowl. Heat it, either on the stove or in the microwave, until hot.
  • Then pour the milk into your mug over the espresso and cocoa powder.
  • Mix well and voila! Enjoy your chococinno while it’s hot.

Notes:

  • I’ve made a peppermint chococinno using some peppermint chocolate syrup instead of regular chocolate syrup. Yum!
  • It never hurts to add a few mini marshmallows! Though, if you’ve got a two-year-old, she’ll likely eat the marshmallows out of it before you can take your first sip. I know this from experience.
