Diaper Genie Elite

After hearing both positive and negative reviews about this product, I decided that I would give it a whirl based on it being a popular brand name. It’s probably not the best way to choose a product, but I got lucky and I am so glad that I did.

I was given both the original Diaper Genie and the Diaper Genie Elite as baby shower gifts. It would have been silly to keep them both, so I figured that keeping the newer model would make the most sense.

The Elite isn’t too different from the original, but it does have a few new features that totally make it worth it.

First thing: the foot pedal. Just like a regular garbage can, it allows you to step on the pedal which opens the lid. This is extremely helpful for when you are holding your little one, or have a handful of dirty diapers.

Unlike the original, the Elite doesn’t twist the bag every time you put a diaper in. I find that I only have to empty the container once a week because you can really shove a lot of diapers into the bag/pail. The bags are no different and seem to contain the smell really well. I have never had an issue with my daughter’s room stinking up.

With that being said, my only negative comment about this product is the cost of the refill bags. At about $8 per pack of bags, I think they are pretty pricey. I’d say on average, I use approximately 1.5 refills per month. Definitely try and stock up when they are on sale!

Overall, I really love this product and would highly recommend it to any mommy or mommy-to-be!

  1. I always wondered what the difference between the regular one and the elite was. Now I know! I like my elite too, but mine definitely stinks up the room every time the lid is opened. Its the bag that gets stinky, not the actual diaper genie. And I agree that the refills get pricey.
