DIY Christmas Pedicure Basket
This year, for one of the three family Christmas parties we are attending, we were asked to bring a handmade gift to be auctioned.
The proceeds will go to the church that made the space available to us. I am super busy and although I LOVE crafting, it’s been hard for me to find extra time to make something great.
I was browsing Pinterest looking for a kid’s craft and came upon this awesome and super simple recipe for brown sugar scrub. I paired that with the awesome recipe for homemade hand cream I got last Christmas time and VOILA!
For my gift basket I went to Walmart and the Dollar Tree.
I bought:
- 2 containers
- 1 basket
- Pumice stone
- Nail brush
- Fun nail polish
- Toe nail separators
- Fuzzy socks
I made the sugar scrub with:
- 1 cup of dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup of olive oil
- 2 tbs. of honey
I mixed the ingredients right in one of the containers and actually doubled the batch because it is a decent sized container.
To make the homemade hand/foot cream, I used:
- 1 - 15 oz. bottle of baby lotion
- 1 - 8 oz. Vaseline (I used the stuff with cocoa butter.)
- 1 - 8 oz. jar of Vitamin E cream (I could only find it in the 16 oz. size, so I have enough for two batches.)
Mix all the ingredients with a blender until it resembles icing then put it into containers (I bought an extra container for lotion for a separate present that I’m giving this Christmas because this yields a fairly big batch).
Side note: Since I am 8.5 months pregnant, I was thinking how awesome this lotion would be for stretch marks and I think I’ll be making more for myself to use on my baby belly!
Once your scrub and lotion are made, assemble the basket to look pretty and you’re finished!
