Enzo’s Fall Themed First Birthday Party

Mama Fernanda was so excited to put this fall-themed pumpkin patch birthday party together for her big one-year-old, Enzo. The beautiful decorations really pulled together her theme while the food she served reflected her Brazilian heritage, making this a perfect celebration for her son.

What inspired the theme of your child’s party?

Fall is my favorite season of the year and Enzo was born almost in the beginning of Fall (September 19), so I decided to do something fall-related. A pumpkin patch was a really fun theme to play with.

What was one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?

I loved the decorations. I didn’t want to spend much on them, and it was easy to come up with something cute and inexpensive because every dollar store and craft store had tons of fall stuff around at that time of the year. I also tried to use things that I already had at home, for example, we normally buy the glass bottles of Starbucks iced coffee, so I removed the labels and used them as milk jars. I also used fruit cases that we get when we shop at our local fruit market. I really loved how it came out at the end.

I am also very proud of the food, I did almost everything by myself. I combined some typical fall foods with some foods that are traditional foods for birthdays in Brazil, and the combination turned out really well. It was a feast.

Did you work with any vendors? If so who and what did you like about them?

I had a musician to entertain the kids, Matty Roxx, he was pretty awesome! He brought some instruments for the kids to play along with him and had a bubble machine. He kept the kids busy for a while, and its was lots of fun.

I also ordered Enzo’s cake from BMQ Desserts. I had worked with them on my wedding as well and I love their cakes.  They did an amazing job creating a pumpkin patch cake for my pumpkin baby.

The invitations and all the paper goods were from Etsy, Twinkle Little Party. She was very professional and accommodated all of my requests very quickly. The price was also very reasonable.

What was your favorite moment/part of the party?

We had so many friends and family at the party, and when we sang ‘happy birthday’ to him, everyone was standing around the cake table. I remember looking at everyone, they all had a huge smile on their faces, and were so happy. I could feel how my little guy was loved, that was so emotional I couldn’t hold the tears from my eyes.

What was your birthday boy’s favorite part of the party?

Enzo loves music! He had a great time when the musician was playing, but the high moment for him was for sure when the musician turned on the bubble machine. Enzo loves bubbles and he was ecstatic looking at them, I am pretty sure he loved it.

Can you give any advice to mamas who are planning a party for their little one?

Choose the time of the party well. The only thing I regret was the time we started the party (4:30 p.m.). I did it at the end of the day, thinking it would be more convenient for all the guests. It turned out that Enzo did not nap well on that day, so he ended up sleeping in the middle of the party… he was so tired because it was a little late for him. Looking back, I would do it according to his schedule only. After all it was his special day.
