Logan’s Monster Birthday Party

Orange, purple and green, OH MY! When I saw all the details of Logan’s monster birthday party, I just knew I had to get inside the head of this mama planner, Laura.

The “Welcome Little Monsters” door sign and the Adopt-A-Monster favors were so creative— Laura really outdid herself!

What inspired the theme of your child’s party?

I chose the “little monsters” theme for Logan’s first birthday party because his favorite book at the time was One Oogly Eye: A Silly Monster Counting Book and featured cute monsters. I wanted to choose a fun, colorful theme that also related to his interests at this age.

What is one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?

I’m most proud of how I turned everyday items into monster decor. Even the juice bottles were painted with “oogly” eyes!

Did you work with any vendors? If so, who? And what did you like or dislike about them?

The party was somewhat of a surprise to me, I hadn’t expected as many “yes” RSVPs as I received. So I threw the entire thing together myself. There were no real vendors that I worked with. I did order a good amount of stuff from Oriental Trading and was very happy with their low costs and fast shipping.

What was your favorite moment/part of the party?

My favorite moment was the very end of the party when everything had quieted down and I was able to sit and chat with friends. Logan was quietly curled up in my lap, passed out from all the excitement and, no doubt, a sugar crash. I could finally sit back and reflect on the party and thank all of our friends who shared in celebrating our little man.

What was your birthday boy’s favorite part?

I’m pretty sure the birthday boy’s favorite part was biting into the chocolate covered cake pop “eye” from his monster cake.

Can you give any advice to mamas that are planning a party for their little one?

My advice to other mamas would be to have fun with it all. Remember, everyone is there to celebrate your first year as a parent and the first year of amazing life for your child. Take photos of everything, set up before everyone gets there, you’ll be happy you recorded all of your hard work.

One thing that I did which I’m so happy about, in retrospect, and strongly recommend to other mamas, is to assign a close friend to take photos and hand off your camera to them. Better still would be to hire a photographer, but if that’s not in the budget at least give the duty to someone else. For one thing, you will be so busy chasing your little one, greeting and mingling with guests and making sure the food and drinks are flowing that you won’t have the time to stop and snap as many pictures as you want. But more importantly, you are the mama, you made this party and this person happen so you should be in the photos!

Great advice in that last line!  Please ogle over this amazing monster party!  I know I did!
