Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets

I feel there are very few items that are “must-haves” with a new baby. Aden + Anais Cotton Muslin Swaddles definitely fall into that category!

The uses for these blankets really are endless. We used them from the time our son was born, and we are still using them to this day — he’s nearly 18 months old!

My biggest use for the blankets in the beginning, surprisingly, wasn’t as a swaddle blanket (although they are great for that as well). I used them predominantly as a nursing cover.

They are very breathable and super lightweight, so I wasn’t worried about my son’s ability to breathe as I covered his head with a blanket. It was good for keeping me (and likely my little man) from becoming too hot while nursing, too. It was also helpful for me to be able to cover him in his carrier or stroller to keep the sun out of his eyes when we were going places.

As my son got older, our uses for the Aden + Anais blankets morphed and multiplied. Once I felt more comfortable with him sleeping in the crib, we were able to stretch the blankets and use them like a fitted crib sheet. Sometimes he would lay on top, and when it was a little chillier we would stretch the “sheet” over his legs. He generally would kick it off at some point in the night, so I wouldn’t recommend doing this before you feel comfortable having a loose blanket in the crib.

We also used these blankets as an on-the-go changing pad. We always made sure to keep one in the car in case we needed to change L on a seat in the car or at some other not-so-convenient location. That way, we were able to make sure the changing surface stayed clean and that he was comfortable; really a win-win!

L still loves these blankets and usually will take one to bed with him and use it to snuggle. I have always felt comfortable with him doing that because they are so lightweight and breathable.

He also has one at his daycare center that he uses on his cot for nap time. I think it helped him with the transition into the toddler room/cot experience because he has been so familiar with these blankets from the very beginning.

The blankets can be seen as a little pricey, but they are definitely worth the cost! The multiple uses and peace of mind such a breathable fabric brings is so important (especially in the beginning).
