Sophie’s Ballerina Birthday Party

Mama Say What?! reader Connie did a lot of research and planning before she found the perfect theme for adorable Sophie’s first birthday party. I love the soft pink and grey colors and all of the little details. This mama did a wonderful job, and I’m so glad that she was willing to share it with all of us!

What inspired the theme of your child’s party?

I had a really difficult time deciding on a theme due to liking every single girl party I saw online. I came across a birthday invitation on Etsy and fell in love with the ballerina tutu party. I love putting tutus on her and she loves to twirl, so it just made sense that it should be the theme.

What was one element of the party that you are particularly proud of?

This is hard because I was so proud of so many of the party elements. I would have to say the food. It turned out to be super easy to plan and set up— and it was delicious. Everyone at the party loved it.

Did you work with any vendors (photographer, cake maker, location etc)? If so, who? And what did you like about them?

We worked with The TomKat Studio for our party labels (food, dessert and favors) and paper straws. Babycakes Art and Design created the party invitations. Both vendors responded quickly to my questions, were amazing to work with and did an incredible job with our orders.

What was your favorite moment/part of the party?

My favorite moment would have to be when we put her own personal cake that her daddy made on her highchair and everyone at the party surrounded her. Listening to our family and close friends sing Happy Birthday to her melted my heart.

What was your birthday girl’s favorite part?

Her favorite part was hitting the piñatas. We had two (one for kids and one for adults) and we had her hit each one before anyone else had a turn. She was so amazed by them and had a huge smile on her face.

Can you give any advice to mamas that are planning a party for their little one?

My advice would be to start early, even if you or others think you are being crazy by starting early. Get organized by using a to-do list and write down every single item you know you’ll need the day of the party. Our checklist worked wonderfully. And lastly, get lots of help the day of the party. It can be overwhelming and having help eliminates stress.
