Younique’s 3D Fiber Lashes Review & Giveaway

I have a love/hate relationship with mascara and have since I was old enough to borrow/steal my mom’s. My eyelashes are decently long, but they stick straight out and they are pretty fair, especially at the roots. So if I don’t curl them AND get mascara all the way to the roots, it doesn’t even look like I have eyelashes.

Also, my eyelashes tend to repel mascara. After just a couple of hours, I usually have dark smudges under my eyes where the mascara is flaking off, even when I don’t touch my eyes. I’ve tried countless brands, both expensive designer brands and drug-store brands and finally settled on Maybelline’s Lash Discovery Waterproof Mascara. It has a very small brush that helps me get to the roots of my lashes and seems to stay put and not flake off. But, if I hang onto a tube for too long, it will start to flake off, so I have to replace it every couple of months.

I was excited when I was given the opportunity to try Younique’s 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara because I have read some really great reviews about it.

Andrea from Younique, sent me some great tips along with the regular directions that come with it. The instructions say to apply a coat of your regular mascara first and then apply the 3D Fiber Lashes. Andrea said that some people skip that first step and just apply the 3D Fiber Lashes.

I tried both methods and I found that if I skipped applying my own mascara first, I found that my lashes straightened out after I’d spent some time curling them with an eyelash curler. If I curled them, then applied my regular Maybelline mascara, THEN the 3D Fiber Lashes, my lashes kept their curl.

Left: No makeup. Middle: My own mascara. Right: Younique 3D Fiber Lashes (no other eye makeup!)

All in all I was impressed with this mascara. It’s probably not something I will wear every day as it takes more time to apply than my regular mascara. As a busy mama of two boys (my youngest is only a month old), time is everything! For everyday use, I need and prefer something that’s super quick. But for when I get dressed up, I love having this tool in my arsenal to make my lashes look thicker and fuller.
